In the past few months I have been composing for two talented directors:
- Girly Bro. Directed by Sarah Stupar. Vancouver, BC. Canada.
- Rut Lake. Directed by Luke C. Fisher. Ohio, U.S.
Both short films are currently in the post production phase.
The Edmonton Short Film Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to the elevation of Alberta independent film. This is a red carpet Hollywood-inspired experience for Edmonton moviegoers, offering not just a film screening but live music, free hors d’oeuvres, popcorn and a fun, festive atmosphere.
The ESFF is unique in that it is for independent filmmakers in Alberta, and includes students, emerging and professional filmmakers. This festival allows filmmakers to have their works screened publicly outside of the “normal” festival market. Finally, this festival is differentiated by the diverse projects they accept for screening: trailers, music videos, web series, commercials and short films. They encourage submission of projects that were previously made including projects that have been screened, broadcast or posted publicly. Their goal is to provide a venue to screen works in front of a live, appreciative audience.

Vox Novus and Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts Dance Department are delighted to collaborate on a special edition of 60×60 focused on Louisiana. Curator Lisa Benner selected 60 compositions (including mine) to be played continuously in a one-hour live dance concert featuring original choreography by Audra Allen, J Lillian Gray and LSMSA dance composition students. Performances are Friday, April 10th at 7pm, Saturday April 11th at 4pm and 7pm. Minimum suggested donation: $7. Because of the structure of the concert, there will be no late seating and no intermission.
60×60 is a one-hour-long show made by sequencing 60 pre-recorded pieces of music by 60 different composers. Each piece a minute in length or shorter. 60×60 has been presented in many performance formats including TV shows, radio shows, multimedia and multidisciplinary events, as well as published several albums of works. Since 2003, 60×60 has received thousands of submissions from over 30 countries. Highlighting the work of a great many artists and composers, 60×60 testifies to the vibrancy of contemporary composition by presenting a diverse array of styles, aesthetics, and techniques being used today.
